I no longer blog here, but you can check out my personal blog [it’s in Danish], if you’re into that sort of thing.

Life immitating games… sadly

May 10th, 2006

Does this article remind you of a particular game too? Oh, my.

First I brush my hair… then I charge!

A colleague sent me a link to the pretty My Little Pony Role Playing Game:
My Little Pony Role Playing Game

Sure it’s an April’s Fools thing, but it really got me thinking about the subject of women and games again. Funny how you leave something for a while only to come running back to it when the oppotunity arrives. I’m officially an oppotunist. But just to get back on track, I thought it was funny that the ultimate D&D joke for 2006 was to make up something supposedly anethema to many roleplayers, who like their elves Tolkienesque. The thing is that I think this would work, big time, I would gobble it up like Steve Jackson’s Munckin and so would my regular crowd of D&D players. But sadly Wizards of the Coast see no point in actually producing this gem:

Well, wait. Wait just a minute—this is all starting to sound a little too reasonable. Somebody might read this and decide we should start making the My Little Pony RPG. And that’s not what we want for April Fool’s!

If it weren’t for a bizillion silly copyright issues, I think this would make a great game for a small indie developer.

PlayXboxStation?

September 14th, 2005

Logitech Xbox ControllerThe Danish paper Politiken has picked up on the story that Sony is recalling 4000 PlayStaion 2’s here in Denmark. A big a deal for Sony, but I do believe that Microsoft and Logitech are a little miffed at their choice of illustration for the article. I couldn’t resist grabbing a copy and posting it here.

I just wanted to add that Politiken have run some really good articles on gaming in the past, so this one is just a small slip in their otherwise pretty good track record. Made me chuckle though.

Update: Just noticed that the piece is a cut and paste job from Ritzau a large news agency, so it’s not really the game writers’ fault - just the regular evening news Janes or Joes.

Women Game Writers Wanted

September 12th, 2005

For my casual gaming needs I like to head over to JayIsGames and fire-up a flash game or two. It’s great for those “my kid is asleep so I need a quick fix” type of situations. An intelligent casual game agent if you will.

But what does this have to do with women, you ask. Well it turns out that Jay is outsourcing some of the editorial work to other writers, but he’d really appreciate a few females who’d like to step up to the challenge, since all the writers so far are male. So if you have a game writer in your belly - and you’re a woman - check out his site and consider having a go.
